Our Tic-Tac-Toe game is designed for two people sharing one device. X goes first. Players alternate turns, aiming to place three of their marks in a row, column or diagonal.
Check the board in order
- Can you complete a line of three on this turn? Take the winning move.
- Can your opponent win on their next turn? Block that square.
- If neither player has an immediate win, look for a move that creates two threats.
Understand a fork
A fork is a position where one move creates two possible winning lines. Your opponent can usually block only one on the next turn. Look for forks for both players before committing to a square.
When the game ends
The game stops after a winning line or when every square is filled. A filled board with no winner is a draw. Select New Round to clear the board and start again with X.
Try explaining your plan
After a round, talk through the move that changed the game. This makes the activity useful even when the result is a draw.
