Number Sprint is a short arithmetic activity with ten questions. It uses small whole numbers and a mixture of addition, subtraction and multiplication. Subtraction questions are arranged to avoid negative answers.
Play a round
- Select the Number Sprint tab on the games page.
- Read the question and type your answer.
- Select Check Answer or press Enter.
- Read the feedback before moving to the next question.
Accuracy before speed
Despite the name, there is no countdown. Take the time you need. A correct answer adds one point, and the completed round shows your score out of ten.
Break a question into parts
For addition, try making a round number first. For multiplication, break a factor into easier pieces. For example, 7 × 6 can be approached as 7 × 5 plus another 7.
Keep a useful note
After playing, name one kind of question that felt easy and one you would like to practise. The score is feedback for this short round, not a formal measure of ability.
